Week 1
Bruising and swelling still present. Abdominal tightness if muscle repair.
Showering per advice, light meals, stool‑softeners as needed, garment wear.
Gentle walking at home. No driving yet.
Week 2
Pain reducing; energy improving. Sutures/drains if present may be reviewed/removed.
Wound review, scar taping advice may begin, continue garment.
Light errands. Some may trial short drives if cleared and off opioids.
Weeks 3–4
Swelling slowly reduces. Mobility improves. Some numb areas normal.
Scar care, gentle range‑of‑motion, continue garment if advised.
Return to desk work common. Light cardio if approved.
Weeks 6–8
Stronger, less swelling. Scars pink and firm.
May taper garment. Progress exercise if cleared.
Heavier lifting and core work often resume after clearance.
3–12 months
Scars mature and fade; swelling continues to settle.
Ongoing scar management and sun protection.
Full return to normal activities per surgeon review.
